About The Millennium Chess Computer - Chess Genius PRO

The perfect playing partner for all chess enthusiasts. With color display, many learning and help functions and a playing strength of up to 2,200 ELO.

The new ChessGenius Pro with its color display offers fun for all players - while being easy and intuitive to use. The PLAY button easily starts new games: with white, with black, in 2-player mode or from a specific position. The powerful processor delivers lightning-fast response times at all game levels. The design has been completely modernized compared to the previous model: super slim, modern and with stylish pieces that fit well in the hand.

Features

You can set an almost unlimited number of difficulty levels. Tournament levels are available for particularly strong players, which challenge even very good club players with up to 2,200 ELO. The easy game levels have been further optimized so that even absolute chess beginners can win. Up to 12 games can be stored and reloaded in the device. Alternative computer moves, different playing styles and 3 options for the opening books round off the chess experience. For maximum freedom, a level with freely adjustable times, number of moves and increment is available.

The chess computer can abandon games or offer draws. The optional chess trainer warns of bad moves, offers their takeback and makes suggestions for better moves. The help button shows possible moves in the game - either for all pieces or only for the selected piece. Even the names of the openings played are shown on the display if desired.

Comfort

The ChessGenius Pro is equipped with the latest MILLENNIUM pressure sensing technology. The extra smooth chess board of 20 x 20 cm (8“ x 8“) ensures enjoyment! The high-contrast color display with the modernized user interface allows quick access to all functions. With 14 languages for all menu and help texts, there is the right language for everyone!

All menu items are provided with help texts in the selected language. You don't know what a certain setting does? One press of the ? button and you know - without the need for an instruction manual!

Power saving: The device works with batteries, NiMH rechargeable batteries or the optional M811 power supply. The device detects periods of non-use and then automatically switches to power saving mode.

Portability

The magnetic pieces allow the game even on the go. They cling to the board surface even when it’s in motion. They are easily and safely stored in the included cotton piece bag.

The main switch on the back of the device allows you to completely disconnect the power supply. So you can simply take your ChessGenius Pro with you and play wherever you happen to be spending your free hours.

Kicked my ass!

Not ashamed to admit it, I'm not as great as I thought I was. Humbling in a good way and I look forward to the books I bought to improve my strategy. A little humble pie goes a long way for growth. The game itself is awesome and I wish I bought one that was physically larger but this one will be great. THANKS FOR THE BEAT DOWNS BUT I WILL ACHIEVE VICTORY SOON. MIKE

Open Box Review Millennium Chess Computer Genius Pro-2024 Ed.

78 year old rated 1025 player who never owned Chess Computer and I was playing within 15 minutes of opening box. Love that it points out my blunders and that I can set up any Chess situation for coaching. A winner at a great discount. Set is like new with no identifiable flaws. Five star

Surpassed my expectations

I love my new chess set! It is better than I had expected, the screen is very clear and even if it is going to take me a while to be able to manage all its features, it is a lot of fun to play. The keyboard looks very elegant, inviting to play. The Fun feature is exactly that, fun, lots of fun. My only pet peeve is that the magnet on the taller pieces (queen, king) are not strong enough. If you tilt the set the queen will slide and fall down, dragging the other pieces with it. A stronger magnet is needed to hold those pieces in place. Over all, I am happy with the set, I have printed out the longer manual to be able to explore and enjoy the set to its fullest and I am also very thankful to Chess House for always delivering, for their high quality service and honesty. I would not go to any other store for my chess needs.

Perfect in every way!

Pros: Very attractive new design. Pieces are beautiful and with magnetic bases. Pressure sensitivity when moving pieces is just right... very little pressure needed. Superb display and menu design. Saves games for review and analysis. Great selection of levels. Nice compact size. I'm an 800. -1200 ELO casual player and beat it on my first try on "Fun Level 1" with "perm. Brain" turned off. It was a very fun long game and gave me a challenge. Two extra queens are included. The price is great for such a nice product. This order was filled by the great team at Chess House who have always been superb! Their customer care is always excellent! I love this product and highly recommend it for all levels of chess players.
Cons: A minor preference on my part - I would have liked a storage compartment on the bottom for storing pieces, but the excellent slim profile may have kept that from being a possibility. I do love the slim design after all and a nice drawstring bag is included for storing the pieces. I have no other cons whatsoever.

New Chess genius pro 2024

First off, Once again my whole experience with the purchase of my new Millennium Chess Genius Pro 2024 from Chess House has just been fantastic. After checking prices online, I found that Chess House indeed had the best price. I Placed my order Friday the 13th and received my Merchandise on the 16th. Wow, that was fast!! My Chess computer was well packaged and arrived safe and sound. After playing several games I was able to adjust the playing strength to match my own and I just had a lot of fun with this new machine. Here is my review of this new chess computer.
The Millennium Chess Genius Pro 2024 model M815 is certainly a fantastic upgrade from the standard Chest Genius Pro M812. It has some nice bells and whistles that make it an absolute joy to play. A color LED readout lets you clearly see everything that is going on. The chess pieces are a really nice new design that look and feel good, and yes they included extra queens. The pieces are magnetic with a nice magnetism that is proper for their size and weight, and the black pieces have a gray offset in their color that makes them easier to visualize on the solid black squares. Operation is simple and straightforward, and most will only need a brief review of the owner’s manual to get started. You can now save up to 12 games and replay them anytime. You can fully adjust the playing strength, along with a new feature that allows you to pick from several styles of play which makes this new Chess Genius Pro Perfect for the new beginner as well as seasoned pros. I found that taking back a move has been made easy and straightforward on this machine, a feature I find very refreshing since I make a lot of mistakes. The computer will now even offer you a draw or resignation, which is nice. You can also choose different chess piece designs for your LED readout. There is a solid on/off switch separate from the on/off button that is thoughtfully recessed to prevent the power from being accidentally turned off. This also prevents the unit from being accidentally turned on when running on batteries which is a feature I particularly like.
I played the old machine versus the new machine. They're both rated at the same strength and The game ended in a draw. Also, when you win by checkmate, you are rewarded with the sound of a cheering crowd how cool. Millennium is releasing the in-depth Detailed manual next week, so I'm looking forward to that. Below I've included some pictures of a comparison of the old Chess genius pro on the right and the new chess genius pro on the left and a photo of the new pieces with the slight gray offset Which makes them easier to see.

In conclusion, I personally really like the new Millennium Chess Genius Pro 2024. The folks at Millennium have done a fantastic job at keeping things simple and easy while giving a much-needed upgrade to the old model, and at a price we all can enjoy.

Gonna really enjoy this!

I have not owned a chess computer for roughly 30 years. I go back to the days of the saiteks. I am no longer an active tournament player but at 63 I like to stay mentally sharp. I received this yesterday and it promptly whooped me. I have no idea what level it was set on.
I am impressed with how far they have come and what you can do with them now. So many features that were not available back in the day.
The item seems to be well made. I think that due to how light it is, it may come across as feeling "cheaply made". But it does seem to be well built.
The pressure sensitivity on the squares is good. It requires just a slight amount of pressure. You also get a beep to let you know that the computer has registered the move.
I looked around to find out the ELO rating of the different levels but couldn't find anything. I reached out to chesshouse and am waiting for an answer.
My only 2 "complaints" and they aren't really complaints but more inconveniences are:
1. I wish the board was a little bigger. I think 12x12 would be ideal.
2. I wish the unit came with a storage compartment for the pieces.
But like I said not complaints just inconveniences.
Its only been 1 day but so far so good.

Great portable electronic chess set.

I wanted a chess set that was portable, and could be played on uneven surfaces, such as watching TV in bed while making some moves on the board. Also, I wanted a standalone computer, not something that requires a phone. This has zero interfaces by the way, so if you want to analyze offline, you have to play back the moves and manually enter them into a computer or other device.

200 is a bit steep in one way of looking at it. But it's not a mass sale sort of item, and the quality seems good. Good user interface. Clear LCD screen showing the pieces, which is important, as that's the only way to know where the computer is moving.

Pieces are ok, nothing to write home about. The "black" pieces are, er, green. Supposed to be jade colored? It's odd, but acceptable. Pieces are skinny. There's a wooden version which seems a bit nicer, but I found out about it too late.

The best features are:
* Simple to use. Really simple if you have used a similar Millenium product
* Magnets work very well. Pieces stay in place even when bumped.
* A good size for portability, but not too small.
* Clear LCD, which is very important as you have to see the computer moves
* Battery powered if you like. Again, very portable.
* Looks pretty good for a small plastic set. "Sleek" is a possible adjective.
* Playing on fun levels, you can probably win unless you are a new player or a quite weak player. I am a weak player, I can beat it.
* No idea about strength, supposedly 2200, should be able to steam roll any average player on higher settings. It's 2025, a modern ARM 120 Mhz CPU, is a lot more powerful than the old hardware from the 1990s running in the 10's of Mhz.
* Mine came with an adaptor. I saw complaints some did not. No idea on that, but of course it's nice to have an adaptor come with it.
* For a German board, the instructions you can download online are nice. It's simple ( but I am a software engineer so maybe my idea of simple varies from yours.) So you can probably just make a few notes, and print them out for anything you don't remember.

A few knocks:
* Price is going to be high for some people. I was ok with playing 200. You can find cheaper models, especially used though. But the display is sorta worth paying more IMO, if money allows, as the older chess genius display looks hard to read with weird icons. With any luck, this thing will last 10 years or more. Never know with electronics, but treat it well, and it seems durable.
* Some people won't love those green pieces.
* Some people won't love the skinny pieces

I would love to know about battery life. Color LCDs probably use up a fair amount, and no idea how much power an ARM M4 takes. But it's an embedded sort of CPU, not a desktop processor. I admit I have only owned it for a few days, but used it enough to put out a review. Ask me in 2 years if it's a good purchase :)

Nice machine

I played one game on this when it arrived and promptly lost at the lowest level. I'm looking forward to playing more and improving my game. I had no problems with pressure sensitivity. The magnets are not very strong, just strong enough to hold the pieces in position if you bump the board.

Great refresher!

I last played chess as a kid more than 40 years ago, but quit when I couldn't win. Now I'm relearning the game and finally enjoying my wins at a learning level!

Millennium Chess Genius Pro

I have only played a couple of games thus far. I am still learning about all the bells and whistles. I like the function that warns me that I am making a bad move. Based on what I know about this model thus far, I would heartily recommend it for the beginner, intermediate or even the advanced player.

Millennium Chess Computer - Chess Genius PRO - 2024 Edition

Beautiful chess set. The pieces are large enough to handle easily. The magnets are just strong enough to stay in place when the board is tipped but they are easily moved. The board is sensitive to gentle taps for recording movement. The new screen version is colorful and easy to read. I love it so far.

Improvement over the previous Millennium Chess Computer - Chess Genius PRO

The new screen alone is worth the upgrade. The menus are easier to navigate and the physical device is slightly smaller with less wasted space. I found that the AC adapter from the previous device works with the 2024 edition. The pieces have a better design and the colors are much better than the shiny metallic ones from the other version. All in all it's much more enjoyable to use.

Like it all. Nice size.
