the STACK Chessboard Limited Edition

This stack board is so nice. I think it is easily worth $389. I finally have a board worthy of my pieces pictured. I'm certainly glad I bought it and I believe you will be too. From experience, don't leave men set up on it. Light turns real wood darker(yes). There will be light circles wherever the pieces were. I had to lightly sand an old chess table because of that.

Pretty nice so far! Board looks great and squares are cut evenly. Pairs well with the 3.4” pieces that I have.

I have waited a long time to get a good piece of chess wood board like this. I was really happy the day I received this wonderful piece o art. So in terms of esthetics this is an amazing board. But just like a couple of weeks after I put the board with the pieces on, The ligth squiares got full of marks with the shape of the bottom of the piece. I am a chess fan and I have loads of chess board and the Stack is probably the most beautiful one, but also the most disfuntional one!!!! For the price you pay for it is really bad quality. I fully regreted to have spent this amount of money on this board.

I've been looking for a solid wood chessboard for some time--no veneers, no engineered wood. Spotted this in a blog some time ago and was disappointed it was out of stock when I decided to purchase. So glad it was back in stock when I happened to be looking again. I love the contrast of maple and black walnut, as well as the thought that went into the construction. Even the leather wrap with magnetic closure was well-considered. This is a design that literally clicks.

Just received my Stack chessboard. It is simply amazing. I was expecting a nice board, but it is more than that. The craftsmanship is perfect. All the details are awesome. The feeling and the smoothness are very good as well.

I took me 3 months to decide what my new board will be and I am extremely happy with my choice. Really recommend it.

Pictures and videos don't do this board sufficient justice. If you want a good quality wooden chess board worthy of luxury pieces, one that is a conversation piece whether it is stored or assembled for play, and if your available space is at a premium, you won't be disappointed with this board. I included a couple pictures. The pieces in the photo at 1.9" base are really too big for a 2" board (and I also need to do a better job focusing), but I had them out.....you can see (imho) that the board is not overshadowed by decent pieces. I have a different set of 1 5/8" base pieces that will be perfect for this board.

Recently picked up this board as I wanted to get back into chess and wanted to do so in style! This board exudes good design and is a bold addition to any table.
Shortly after picking up the base version, I realized that I deeply wanted to have the limited edition case as it would make for an excellent statement piece when the board was not in play. I contacted the wonderful people at Chess House and they happily obliged to sell me the Limited Edition case which is currently en route!
While some might want a board that conforms to more tradition styling, I believe that if you are taking the time to read this review, you're likely already sold on the board!

For a long time I had been searching for the perfect board to go with an Ivory Chess set from the 1950s, and I finally came across this beautiful Stack Chessboard from Chess House. The without any borders to destruct, the pieces look like they are floating in the air. Beautiful combination!

For $500 expected flawless product. Still not ideally crafted.

This chess board is really nice! So nice, in fact, that I don’t really want to take it out, even though that was the original idea, because I don’t want to scratch it up! The suede bag shows the wood off nicely, but its open side allows the pieces to slide out too easily. Still, this is a really beautiful chess board thats almost too nice!

Everything I was hoping for and more. A perfect chessboard for those of us with limited storage/surfaces. The quality of workmanship is superb, perfect magnet alignment, excellent wood quality and to my surprise the edges of the squares are rounded. Way more than I expected. Gee, I might have to collect all of them!

My husband was thrilled with this chessboard. Quality is exceptional and so very clever,.

I am extremely happy with my Stack! Its ingenious design and fine woodworking definitely are “wow” factors, especially during assembly. The assembled board is functional art. Now, if only my game could match my beautiful board.

I was concerned my smaller chessmen (3” king) wouldn’t be an aesthetic pairing with the Stack, but the 2” inch squares aren’t overwhelming. Anything more than 3.75” would probably match better with the 2.25” square of the Tournament Stack.

PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT !!!

Board/stack design is gorgeous. My first shipment had some scratch and glue problems. Customer service was great and quickly replaced the board. The second looks great but has a visible gap where 2 of the magnets fail to engage due to some uneveness.

The quality of the STACK is excellent. It was worth the 11,000 km that it needed to travel to get to Vientiane!

It's just an exquisite awesome sets and pieces.
and it's the greatest quality I've ever seen, and that's what really needed by all means.

I'm #123 0f 250. .... I just love the craftsmanship and the beautiful woods used. A beautiful display even if you don't play chess. ...... Only one thing, no big deal but don't use magnetic chess pieces with it. I have a beautiful set of magnetic chess pieces but because of the magnets in the board the pieces are pulled off center of the square they are on when on a square with a magnet in it.

A working/usable piece of Art ! The other reviews couldn’t have said it better .. Quality matches the investment. Will be passed on to future generations with pride !!!

This trully is piece of art. I am not afraid to lend here quote from Antoine de Saint Exupéry saying "perfection is finally attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away". This really is what STACK is about - simplicity.

The workmanship of this board is impeccable down to each square, and the 4 pieces come together with a satisfying click. The suede wrap is a nice addition for protection and travel, while at home the secure display box with magnets firmly holds each section and lets me proudly display the piece as a showpiece of modern art. It's easy to have a passion for chess with this board, isn't it? I'm glad to have chosen the limited edition version, and another is on order...for one VERY lucky recipient. :)
