Square Off Chess Board - GRAND KINGDOM Chess Set

The board does take up some room, to accommodate the move mechanism underneath, which is not fast by any means. Having the board reset itself is unique the first couple of times; after that it's easier and less time-consuming to do it yourself. The rosewood finish is very nice. This is not a tournament size board. The pieces are a bit slippery on the board, and you'll find yourself knocking stuff over quite a bit. Mechanism is not quiet, but not obnoxiously loud. When playing as black, you will have to rotate the board to you, or sit on the other side of the board, as far as I can tell. Not aware of a workaround for this. Can't wait for the Neo to arrive, which seems to run much faster.

I am really enjoying my square off chess computer. I started on level 3 and beat it. I went to level 5 and it is beating me. My wife insist I play once a day to get my chess brain back. There have been no glitches so far. The pieces move very well as long as they can get by each other.

You had the Best price around. This was on the top of my son's Christmas list. Everything was perfect and on time. Thank you chess house my son loves everything about this board. It is so awesome and the AI is pretty awesome!

Great board. My boy loves it. Delivery was on time and easy to track.

Its a Xmas Gift, so if all parts are operable like two years ago, be happy

This is a great way to play chess. If you are in an area that doesnt have many players or just a recloose then this is the way to go. You feel like you are playing an opponent in the chair across from you and can even play someone across the world as if they were there. You can replay, view historic tournament games as if they were here. You can learn from this board. I am a winter player and this board keeps me busy and thinking in the long winters in Canada. The board does not always reset the peices correctly but most of the times it works. The only drawback with this purchase was delivery and communication with Square off. They are totally unorganized company. I waited many months for delivery and then received two shipments. I had to return one. Communication was almost none exsistant. I hope they have improved. So great product ,very innovative but be prepared to wait and be frustrated before you get it.

The app is worthless, can't do much on chess.com at all hence making OTB games really only viable against the AI which is a lot less fun.

For this price I wouldn't recommend

For some reason it’s not responding to some of my moves. Sometimes I have to try the move several times before it recognizes it. At times I use my finger to press on the squares and this is intermittent as well. Very frustrating. I have not found that the problem is only with certain squares. On the other hand most moves are recognized and things work very smoothly. I am sure others have had the same problem and hopefully you can tell me a fix . I am pleased with the board but would be very pleased if it wasn't for this one problem. Thanks for your help and response.
Leon

for some reason it’s not responding to any of my moves so I decided to return it . I find myself having to move three and four times before it accept any of my moves

First of all I would like to thank Paul Adam at Chess House for his help and most importantly his patience in helping me resolve this matter.
It started off after buying the Grand Kingdom. Once I received the set it started to malfunction, I was never able to get to work properly. Spent a lot of time on the internet doing research to try to clear the issues.
Thank goodness I bought the set from Chess House as I had problems with the manufacturer which of course was under warranty. After speaking to Paul on this issue, Paul started to document my correspondences and the lack of response from Square Off.
Paul intervene and contacted Square Off directly it took a lot of back and forth corresponces and in the end Chess House had to take care of the situation.
I bought Square Off Pro and I like it very much. From the reviews on line Grand Kingdom is a very good chess set, I was unfortunate in getting a dud. The replacement from Chess House has no issues.
Square Off dropped the ball big time on customer service for something that was brand new and not working. It took 3 months to finally get this resolved. It could have went on longer if it wasn't for the help of Chess House.

Thank you Paul and the guys and gals at Chess House.

You have a greateful customer.

Ordering was easy and fast and shipping was great and fast

The Square off chessboard works great and easy to set up

I ordered this directly from Square off but never received the board after about 9 months i canceled the order with them and swore I would not buy anything from Square off but they I saw that Chesshouse had them in stock and that Chesshouse had lots of great reviews so I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did I will only buy from Chesshouse from now on for any of my Chess needs.

Thanks to all

I had no problems setting up and connecting the Square Off computer. It worked perfectly from the start. It does sometimes need a hand when it’s moving pieces as it occasionally shoves them out of place and occasionally knocks them over. Frustratingly it did not include a power adapter for Oceania countries including Australia and New Zealand but that was resolved with a cheap adapter. The pieces are small and light but that’s essential for the magnetic movement function.

In summary it works well, looks good, connected perfectly and plays a great game.

Wifi connection didn't work.

I live 1000 miles away from my grandsons, they are 10 and 7 years old… this chess board provides a fun way to be together… we play a game every week and they can’t wait to beat their “PaPa” at chess. They have a board and I have a board and we face time on a pad as we play each other….. board works perfect….

Wow. What an amazing board. I've only played like 5 games on it and everything works excellent so far. Plus the shipping of this product was great and it arrived in great shape. Iv ordered from you guys before and everything has always been in tiptop shape. In fact you guys are the only people I will order from when it comes to anything chess related. Great service. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks guys!!!!!

Square off grand kingdom set was out of stock here and on square off site. I registered my email to be notified when in stock. Didn’t think anything would happen before Christmas; but to my surprise I got an email a week or so later saying they had a couple in stock! So I quickly jumped on and ordered. I was in such a rush to get order through that I didn’t take advantage of black friday discount (silly me)! I live in the UK and got delivery a week later. The squareoff grand kingdom set is amazing. The build quality is top notch. Great to play against the computer, and watch opponent moves automatically played out. I’m getting some practice in before remotely challenging my brother who also has a set, and he was the one who recommended it to me. Thanks bro! Thanks squareoff! Thanks chesshouse for your quality of service and efficiency!

Other chess computers require you to move the opponents pieces, which for me is a distraction. This is really like playing with a real person, or rather, a ghost :)
The mechanics work well. I have my fingers crossed that it keeps working for a long time.

Received item fast in perfect condition. Excellent and unique product

Amazing product. No complaints about anything.
